The backbone of the NIAS Registration Module is a relational database system. It provides tracking of students from application to graduation. The database platform is MS SQL Server using Windows. The Internet may be used for student course registration using Microsoft IIS and a web site.
The Registration system is fully integrated with the NIAS Accounts Receivable and Degree Audit modules.
Since the system is relational in structure, the data is organized into many linked tables. Data is verified against tables for validity.
The system supports a multiple institution and school environment. This allows unique institution and school combinations their own data and record keeping schemes.
The system encompasses Catalog, Courses per terms, Student information including biographic and demographic data, Course Registration, Grading, Transfer Credit, Immunization, Student Term Specific, and Graduation data.
The system comes with some reports - Class Lists, Schedules, Grade Reports and Transcripts. It is also possible to use standard desktop tools such as ACCESS to carry out specific reporting requirements.
Students are given a system assigned identification number. Entries of an account number or social security number are also supported.

The NIAS Accounts Receivable Module is an integrated member of the NIAS Registration and Financial Systems. Its purpose is to produce a student's bill, report on all transactions, and update the General Ledger, if desired.
The system is written in Visual Basic and supports NIAS Registration and Financial Databases in MS SQL Server. It is an Open System and all of its tables are described in the NIAS Data Model.
The student's bill is produced using registration information to automatically generate tuition, fees, etc., as well as transactions manually entered into batches, including payments, financial aid, fees, etc. The bill can be produced for an individual student or for all students in a specified term.
Users set up the transactions (both charge and credit) to be automatically generated, as well as manually entered, using Tables in the NIAS System.
The system provides the on-line information to verify registration, as well as other student miscellaneous and term dependent information that may be used to automatically generate transactions.
The system will convert the system-generated transactions into a batch, if desired. Batches will also be generated for Balance Forward transactions and Refund Checks.
The system has many standard reports, that can be run whenever desired. Many of them are run monthly and / or at the end of a term, to summarize the transactions for a specified term. These reports include: Student Balances, Transaction Code Summary, Transaction Code Detail, General Ledger Update, Refund Check Register. The user controls the format of all reports, including Refund Checks, Payment Receipts, and Student Bills, by changing a Crystal report. All of the reports can be either viewed or printed.
